Aliases & name spellings

• “The Blood Angel”, “First user of the Red Seraphim” (self, ep 0132 00:33:36–00:33:52).

Overview

A fallen angel — “an angel That turns his back on God” — and former student of the Grand Priest, who lost “my seat at the side of Zeno” by adapting Dai’s teachings into a forbidden power, the blood angel (ep 0064 00:37:11–00:38:43; ep 0132 00:33:36–00:33:52). The fourth of the Grand Priest’s five strongest, “an all new character… not ever before seen in the dragon ball story”, though he bears “a striking resemblance in features to one we do know” (ep 0063 00:38:14–00:38:32). Sent to execute Jiren, he fought him to the limit as a blood angel and blood demon, then possessed Jiren and Hit before Goku, Frieza and Light beat him (ep 0063 00:38:02–00:38:56; ep 0069 00:33:22–00:36:49; ep 0077 00:35:03–00:35:12; ep 0078 00:25:03–00:39:42). Vegito drained him (ep 0084 00:44:07–00:45:02), but he lived on inside Vegito, took half his power to break out of sector 3 and fought him in the flesh, until Vegito absorbed him completely through the Cell tail (ep 0132 00:18:39–00:40:24; ep 0133 00:15:50–00:37:13). Since then he appears only as Vegito’s apparition (ep 0179 00:27:12–00:27:34; ep 0250 00:32:15–00:32:30).

Affiliations & relationships

• One of the five strongest, after Guts (first), Madara (second) and Yamoshi (third) (ep 0063 00:38:56).
• Jiren: “the second god killer”; “I have learned much about you” (ep 0063 00:38:02, 00:38:32).
• Grand Priest: his power is “adapted from the teachings of the Grand Priest”; he leaves Jiren’s body “For the Grand Priest to do as he wishes” (ep 0064 00:38:33, 00:44:50).
• Zeno’s guards: “The power of those guards Is something I know all too well”; he means one day “To finally beat those damn guards myself” (ep 0064 00:21:25–00:21:30, 00:38:43).
• Yamoshi: told him the horns are “the first signs of a mortal’s change to a demon” (ep 0064 00:25:52).
• Ultra Vegito: would “far rather be assigned to eliminate him”; believes him dead (ep 0064 00:20:14–00:20:24).
• Hit: his second host, alongside Jiren (ep 0073 00:43:45–00:45:26; ep 0077 00:35:03–00:35:12).
• Light: “my colleague”, who impales him and wants him brought to Dai alive (ep 0078 00:37:10–00:39:42; ep 0079 00:02:49).
• “Master Dai”: Makoto wants to “prove to Master Dai that he was always wrong about me” (ep 0069 00:36:21–00:36:33); fears that, should Lucif’s energy overcome him, “the fifth, or the priest” would erase him (ep 0069 00:27:13).

Abilities / traits

• A samurai with a katana: a swipe sends a scythe of white energy (ep 0064 00:22:30, 00:23:13–00:23:35); vanishing, after-images, a chokehold (ep 0064 00:29:06–00:32:12). Has faced demon emperors (ep 0064 00:26:32).
• Blood angel — “My own version of a seraphim”: he stabs himself through with his katana; one wing bursts from his right side, white but “stained and dripping in blood”, darkening over time; a glowing red eye; he moves through his foe “like a ghost” (ep 0064 00:36:43–00:41:14). Bloody Slash ×1000 — countless cuts at once, meant to maim (ep 0064 00:42:27–00:43:27).
• Z judged Vegito “not even stronger, Than the fourth” (ep 0061 00:35:55).
• Blood-feather barrage from his wing, “Much like what Z did” (ep 0065 00:27:37–00:27:46); a kick that breaks Jiren’s wrist (ep 0065 00:30:21–00:30:47). His katana was “angel grade” — such weapons “lose their edge… used by ones who are demonic” (ep 0065 00:20:51); Jiren erased it (ep 0065 00:22:09).
• Teleports himself and a grappled foe between planets (ep 0066 00:25:35–00:26:15, 00:30:03–00:30:17); raises a tsunami from an acid lake, then strikes while Jiren deals with it (inferred: a distraction; never said) (ep 0066 00:26:43–00:28:34); a blood-red energy blade (ep 0066 00:28:47–00:28:53).
• Blood demon (ep 0067) — his “true form”: revived from half a body, he regrows limbs of blood; “totally a creature of blood with four fleshy tails”, “well and truly demonic”; “The one I wish to use one day on Dai himself” (ep 0067 00:36:39–00:38:03). An energy blade extended to great length, “sharp enough to cut down gods” (ep 0067 00:28:40–00:30:20).
• ep 0069: four tails sharper “than his katana” that stab, strike and block; a four-tail shield; a red mouth beam “in Broly-like fashion”; speed like Instant Transmission (ep 0069 00:09:12–00:25:18). Possession — he bursts into blood that enters a wound and takes over the body (ep 0069 00:33:22–00:35:55).
• ep 0073: shrugs off Hit’s strikes in Jiren’s body; one swipe beheads Hit; point-blank fire blasts; eye lasers “Superman style” (ep 0073 00:21:29–00:22:32, 00:23:09, 00:26:24, 00:28:54). He doesn’t share Jiren’s memories: he knows the Tournament of Power only by hearsay (inferred) (ep 0073 00:19:37–00:19:52). A splash of his blood can leave the host and become a tail that stabs a new one (ep 0073 00:43:45–00:45:26).
• ep 0078: uses Hit’s body for a “time freeze” (ep 0078 00:09:22–00:09:51); turns his hosts into blood demons modeled on them, with two tails each (ep 0078 00:14:22–00:15:31); a final form “almost reminiscent of how Lucif looked” (ep 0078 00:28:13). Splitting himself between two hosts weakens his hold (ep 0078 00:05:01–00:05:14).

Status

• Absorbed by Vegito — drained through the Cell tail down to the last drop, leaving nothing behind (ep 0133 00:35:24–00:37:13). His power appears afterwards as Vegito’s apparition (ep 0179 00:27:12–00:27:34; ep 0250 00:32:15–00:32:30).
• Earlier, in order: facing Jiren (ep 0063 00:38:56); bloodied by Jiren, then victorious, flying off with his wing (ep 0064 00:34:58, 00:45:10); back to fight the revived Jiren, his katana erased, battered (ep 0065 00:16:05, 00:22:09, 00:29:00); face smashed, half his body blown away and narrated dead (ep 0067 00:31:36, 00:35:13) — then revived as the blood demon (ep 0067 00:37:42); his own body gone, inside Jiren’s, flying off to find Vegito (ep 0069 00:35:19, 00:36:44); fading within Jiren in Hit’s time domain (ep 0073 00:41:45–00:42:16), then entering Hit as well — “Hello new vessel” (ep 0073 00:43:45–00:45:32); holding both Jiren and Hit (ep 0077 00:35:03–00:35:12); forced out of both, burned by Goku’s Seraphim eye, beaten by the Dragon Smite and pierced by Light’s divine blade (ep 0078 00:05:01–00:05:14, 00:25:03–00:25:50, 00:37:10–00:39:42); alive after all — “Surprised you’re even alive Makoto” — and wanted by Light alive for Dai (ep 0079 00:02:49, 00:07:30–00:07:43); caught playing dead and drained by Vegito, who counts all five of the strongest “in his arsenal” (ep 0084 00:44:07–00:45:02, 00:45:24); still alive inside Vegito, then outside Vegito in sector 3 in his completed blood demon form (ep 0132 00:18:39–00:23:32, 00:29:02–00:29:57, 00:40:20–00:40:24).

Open questions

• Whom does he resemble (ep 0063 00:38:14–00:38:32)? Never said. See makoto.
• Who is the “master” who “feared Lucif’s power” (ep 0067 00:33:17)? Probably Dai (inferred: he calls him “Master Dai”, ep 0069 00:36:21, and was his student, ep 0132 00:33:36–00:33:52). Is the blood demon Lucif’s power too (ep 0067 00:38:24)?
• What exactly is his grudge against Zeno’s guards (ep 0064 00:38:27–00:38:43)? He lost his place at Zeno’s side for the blood-angel power (ep 0064 00:37:11–00:38:43); the guards’ part is never told.
