Overview

Vegeta and Bulma’s young son in Ultra Vegito’s own timeline. Erased with Earth by the gods (ep 0006 00:00:18), he comes back with it through Vegito’s wish, unaged, and fights the demon army as Gotenks with Goten (ep 0102 00:37:52–00:38:17, 00:54:32; ep 0104 00:09:06–00:09:08). Sent into space on team 4 with Goten and Bardock, he unlocks Super Saiyan Rage when Goten is nearly killed and slaughters three demons (ep 0122 00:25:17–00:25:26; ep 0125 00:37:11–00:38:45; ep 0126 00:27:06–00:32:40); the form draws its power from the other, time-ring Trunks (ep 0145 00:25:04). He cannot save Goten from Dante (ep 0145 00:22:43–00:34:18), and Vegeta saves him from Virgil’s blast (ep 0153 00:23:27–00:28:08).

As of his last appearance (ep 0178): alive, cheering Vegito on from the sidelines with Bardock (ep 0178 00:23:40–00:23:46).

Affiliations & relationships

• Vegeta (main): his father. Vegeta spots him back on Earth, unaged (ep 0104 00:09:06–00:09:08); arrives through a time portal, hugs him and tells him “You did well, boy” (ep 0145 00:31:20–00:32:47); leaves him behind by mistake (ep 0147 00:11:39–00:12:08); shields him from Virgil’s blast in part-devil form (ep 0153 00:27:38–00:28:13). Vegeta cries out his name in despair (ep 0089 00:06:35–00:06:38) and fights for “My wife! My son! My daughter!” (ep 0101 00:22:33) (that the son is Trunks is inferred).
• Bulma (main): his mother, who won’t send her “little Trunks” away alone and puts him and Goten with Bardock (ep 0122 00:23:51, 00:25:17–00:25:26).
• Goten (main): his best friend and fusion partner (ep 0102 00:54:32; ep 0103 00:17:32–00:17:48); “my best friend” (ep 0126 00:31:49–00:31:52). He saves Goten with a senzu bean (ep 0125 00:36:25–00:36:44) and promises to teach him Super Saiyan Rage (ep 0126 00:33:35–00:33:58); Goten dies in front of him (ep 0145 00:25:17–00:34:18).
• Gotenks (main): his fusion with Goten (ep 0102 00:54:32; ep 0103 00:17:32–00:17:48).
• Bardock (Planet Vegeta timeline): his team-4 minder (ep 0122 00:25:26), who cheers his new form: “Show those brats what the Vegeta bloodline can really do!” (ep 0125 00:40:20–00:40:28). Trunks trusts Bardock to get back up (ep 0144 00:18:24–00:18:43).
• Ultra Trunks: the time-ring Trunks whose energy his Rage form draws on (ep 0125 00:41:01–00:41:17; ep 0145 00:21:19–00:25:04); he steps out of a time portal to stop Dante’s fist — “He is you, son” (Vegeta, ep 0145 00:29:52–00:30:47).
• Ultra Vegito: thinks of him after Earth’s erasure (ep 0006 00:01:41) and senses him the moment he returns (ep 0102 00:37:52–00:38:17); in the vision of ep 0049 Trunks calls him “Dad” (ep 0049 00:34:51–00:35:34). Trunks cheers him on against Lucif (ep 0178 00:23:40–00:23:46).
• Dante: finds him alone and means to kill him as part of “Lord Lucif’s grand show” (ep 0144 00:01:03–00:03:19); kills Goten (ep 0145 00:33:48).
• Virgil: blasts him to hurt Vegeta (ep 0153 00:24:22–00:26:30).
• Goku (main): “Goten’s dad is incredible!” (ep 0147 00:32:37–00:32:43).

It doesn’t return for a while (ep 0144 00:05:29–00:05:41) until he re-enters it against Dante (ep 0145 00:22:43–00:22:52). The narration says it works by “siphoning power from the alternate Trunks” (ep 0145 00:25:04). See rage-trunks.

Open questions

• Is he the Trunks inside Vegito in ep 0220 00:03:50? Ultra Trunks was absorbed in ep 0177, while this Trunks was last seen with Bardock, who is also inside Vegito by then (ep 0178 00:23:40; ep 0220 00:03:50). Not said.
• Who fetched him back in ep 0147 00:12:16? A white-gloved hand, presumably Vegeta’s.
