Summary

Madara mockingly apologises for stepping on Vegito’s “offspring” — Chronoa “won’t mind losing two weaklings” — and Vegito, grieving his sons again, charges in Super Saiyan 3 (ep 0049 00:02:33–00:03:48). In a split second Madara’s katana cuts off his head (ep 0049 00:04:00–00:06:05). Disappointed, Madara scorns Guts — his former student — for losing to “this scum”, wonders how to bring the Grand Priest a corpse when “Dai” wanted him alive, and goes to take the Blade of Destruction, home of a weak “emperor of the demon realm” Guts once sealed (ep 0049 00:06:18–00:09:22). The blade swings at him by itself — perhaps the seal is weakening — and flies into the hand of Vegito’s headless body, whose head floats back and reattaches with Majin Buu’s flesh: “Guess who’s back” (ep 0049 00:09:35–00:12:19). Vegito, claiming he let himself die to test Buu’s powers, powers up to his maximum; Madara senses an energy greater than Guts’s and oddly “familiar” (ep 0049 00:12:29–00:17:49). Still, Madara’s swordsmanship outclasses him (ep 0049 00:18:05–00:22:54). So Vegito drops the blade, pins Madara from behind and summons a copy of himself that calls the blade and slices Madara in half (ep 0049 00:23:01–00:28:22). Madara bursts into a flock of black ravens, reappears face to face and traps Vegito with the “Face of Izuna” (ep 0049 00:29:09–00:31:11). In an endless dark Vegito is welcomed by the Z fighters, Gohan, a young Goten and Trunks, Chi-Chi and Bulma — then watches the gods erase each of them again, until he explodes in light (ep 0049 00:31:24–00:41:15). Outside, he has stood drooling and frozen for over an hour; Madara tells the last two Gods of Destruction, Iwan and Mule, that the Grand Priest wants Vegito alive — and Mule shouts “HAKAI!” (ep 0049 00:41:34–00:43:20).
