Aliases & name spellings

• Iwan — spelling used since ep 0049 (see names). Heard “Hewan” once (ep 0053 00:07:58).
• “God of destruction of universe 1” (ep 0050 00:00:43; ep 0053 00:05:53); “the little yeti”, “you damn yeti” (Vegito, ep 0053 00:19:12, 00:30:25).

Overview

Universe 1’s God of Destruction, one of the last two destroyers with Mule (ep 0049 00:43:02; ep 0050 00:00:43). After fleeing Vegito in Universe 5, he came back alone with Guts and Madara reanimated as puppets (ep 0052 00:11:49–00:12:55; ep 0053 00:10:20–00:12:57). Vegito beat the puppets, erased them, and erased Iwan with the planet he stood on (ep 0053 00:35:39); he is dead from then on and is only mentioned again (ep 0054 00:00:43). His angel was probably Awamo, who fought on at Mule’s side (see Affiliations).

Affiliations & relationships

• Mule: the other remaining destroyer; Iwan offered to help Vegito find him to save himself (ep 0053 00:31:45).
• Guts and Madara: reanimated as his “greatest puppets” (ep 0053 00:12:41–00:12:57).
• Awamo: probably his angel (inferred: Awamo and Campari are “the angels of universe 1 and 3”, ep 0061 00:02:34, and Campari is Mule’s; Awamo is never shown with Iwan). Awamo is drained to death by Vegito (ep 0064 00:08:16–00:08:49). See world.
• Ultra Vegito: beat him with Mule while Vegito was frozen (ep 0050); erased by him (ep 0053).

Abilities / traits

• Reanimation — “the forbidden power… Of reanimation”, his “signature ability”: thin strands of energy from his fingertips to the limbs of a corpse; the puppets come back “to full power” and re-form when cut (ep 0053 00:12:11–00:12:57, 00:26:00–00:26:32). The puppets exist only through his energy and vanish if he is erased (ep 0053 00:30:40–00:31:10).
• Destruction energy fired as a ball (ep 0053 00:05:05–00:05:22).
• His mouth had never been seen until he laughed (ep 0053 00:13:46–00:14:02).

Variants

• Hub: Iwan.
• Iwan (god-killer Goku’s timeline) — killed by god-killer Goku, his face torn off (ep 0196).

Status

• Erased by Vegito’s Planetary Hakai, with the planet (ep 0053 00:35:05–00:35:39).

History

• ep 0049 00:43:02: arrives with Mule over the frozen Vegito.
• ep 0050 00:00:43–00:27:45: beats the frozen Vegito with Mule; flees when he breaks out.
• ep 0052 00:11:49–00:12:55: lands by Madara’s body, with Guts reanimated beside him.
• ep 0053 00:05:53–00:35:39: attacks Vegito, fights him through the puppets, begs for his life, runs, and is erased.
• ep 0054 00:00:43: (mentioned) Recap: Vegito destroyed the planet along with Iwan.

Open questions

• Is Awamo his angel? Only implied: Awamo is one of “the angels of universe 1 and 3” (ep 0061 00:02:34); never shown with Iwan or named as his.
