Summary

The long-coated swordsman is Trunks — and Vegito, weeping, thinks his lost son survived the gods (ep 0048 00:02:03–00:04:24). But this Trunks draws his sword: he is from another timeline, with his own parents, and serves the Time Patrol, sent because Vegito’s “forbidden time rings” have damaged countless timelines (ep 0048 00:04:24–00:06:27). He lists the harm: Gero used Vegito’s DNA to build a Cell that killed every Z fighter; the stolen senzu meant Gohan never needed Super Saiyan 2, leaving that world weaker against Buu; and Vegito’s explosion may have killed the Buu-saga Z fighters and Supreme Kai, dooming that universe (ep 0048 00:06:34–00:08:01). Shaken, Vegito asks whether, by Trunks’s rule that time must run its course, everyone should simply have died to the androids and to the gods — Trunks says yes, and Vegito refuses (ep 0048 00:08:13–00:11:01). When he calls the Blade of Destruction, an adult Goten — also Time Patrol — catches it (ep 0048 00:11:01–00:12:58). In Super Saiyan 1 — “hardly… even 1%” of his power — Vegito punches Gotenks out of fusion-strength and takes the blade (ep 0048 00:36:45–00:39:33). Gotenks refuses to stop hunting him, so Vegito turns him into a chocolate bar with Buu’s beam, meaning to absorb his “sons” — but a silver-haired, masked samurai stamps the chocolate to pieces: Madara, second of the five strongest (ep 0048 00:41:02–00:44:50).

  • Whether Gotenks died is not stated: Madara crushes the chocolate bar he had become (00:43:33). Whether Trunks and Goten can be restored isn’t said.
  • “the 12 pods of destruction” (00:10:15) is taken as “the 12 gods of destruction” [?].
  • Trunks calls himself “not your son” (00:05:11), yet Vegito keeps calling both “my sons”; they are the Trunks and Goten of other timelines.
  • Vegito reacts as if he has never heard of the Time Patrol (00:05:44), though Guts named it to him (ep 0046 00:04:13) — logged in retcons.
