Overview

The ruler of the demon realm above the ten sector emperors: “There’s a reason they are emperors. And I am the devil” (ep 0161 00:18:46–00:18:53). He lived in a sector made to look like Earth, in a copy of Goku’s house, with black hair, two large black horns, a long tail and black-and-green Seraphim eyes (ep 0160 00:01:23, 00:28:56–00:30:48; ep 0161 00:23:26). He arranged for Vegito to kill his own friends for “his own enjoyment” (ep 0162 00:21:45–00:22:29). Blown apart, he reformed as a true demon Vegito, “the same Vegito that [fought?] at the end of Season 1”, with purple Seraphim (ep 0162 00:37:06–00:38:27): he is the thousand-plus Vegito copies of the time-ring army fused into one, carrying “A thousand pieces of Lucif”, who took Lucif’s empty throne as his backup (ep 0163 00:15:16–00:25:27). Burnt by Vegito, he came back by time ring and was beaten again (ep 0166 00:31:08–00:32:38; ep 0168 00:25:10–00:33:55). As of his last mention Vegito has left him in “Eternal torture. Until he knew to give in” (ep 0174 00:17:42–00:18:03).

  • ep 0160: drinks tea in a copy of Goku’s house; recognises Dai; his first clash with Vegito blows the house into a crater (00:30:06–00:37:39).
  • ep 0161: gives the name “Gaiba”; blocks Vegito’s blade; is kicked in the chin; makes goo clones, says the Z fighters were real, and blasts Vegito with a Burning Attack (00:18:30–00:35:39).
  • ep 0162: says Whis sent most of the Z fighters to the demon realm and made a deal with Lucif; shows Whis killing 17 and 18; admits altering their minds (00:02:53–00:22:12); overwhelmed by Vegito, reduced to a head and blown apart, he reforms as a true demon Vegito: “Brother!” (00:25:18–00:38:07).
  • ep 0163: tells his origin — the ring army’s copies fell to sector 10, he exploded into goo and absorbed them all, gained green Seraphim and five time rings, and took Lucif’s empty throne as Lucif’s backup (00:09:40–00:24:04); cuts Vegito’s Cell tail, loses an arm to his own absorption bead, regrows it, and takes the full Lucif takeover form (00:27:49–00:37:50).
  • ep 0164: whips Vegito into a mountain with his tail; lets Vegito pierce him, coats Vegito’s arm in his black substance, blasts him point-blank and drains the arm (00:01:00–00:07:20).
  • ep 0165: explains Lucif’s split-power plan (00:07:03–00:08:01); outclasses Vegito, tears off his devil armour, chokes him with his tail and reaches to absorb him, until Arch Angel Dai’s smite crushes him down (00:18:04–00:29:17).
  • ep 0166: smitten by Dai, says that if he is sent down Vegito and Dai are trapped (00:12:05–00:13:32); after Vegito absorbs Dai, he is beaten and burnt by Vegito’s Hell’s Flash, leaving a bottomless pit (00:27:17–00:32:38).
  • ep 0168: revived by a time ring that crumbles, one of its “two lives” spent; has ten rings (00:24:54–00:26:28); outclassed by Nephilim Vegito, loses an arm (it turns to goo with the rings) and his lips, and is kicked through three mountains (00:27:19–00:33:55).
  • ep 0169: his demonic Galick Gun is stopped and turned back by Vegito (00:02:53–00:06:24); his four clones are beaten and forced into one abomination, fried by Nimbus Thunder (00:07:42–00:17:07); threatens to kill himself and destroy the rings (00:17:56–00:18:11).
  • ep 0170: arrives in the mortal realm, tells Lucif he beat “that Vegito” with an “ultimate trump card”, and bows to him; knocks Vegeta down (00:01:17–00:19:44); steps aside for Lucif (00:23:31–00:23:56).
  • ep 0171: watching the fight, decides it is time to get involved (00:15:41–00:16:33). Which side he meant is never shown: the “Lucif Vegito” who comes to Goku next is Vegito in disguise (ep 0174 00:16:35–00:16:57); whether the Devil of eps 0170–0171 was also Vegito isn’t made clear.
  • ep 0173: appears at Goku’s side as “Lucif Vegito”, friendly; offers to take Goku’s power and deal with Lucif, calling it a gamble on whether he switches sides (00:12:44–00:18:40). See devil-offer.
  • ep 0174: Vegito says the “Lucif Vegito” of ep 0173 was himself in disguise; the real Devil lied to Lucif about beating him, and Vegito left him in “Eternal torture. Until he knew to give in.” (00:16:35–00:18:03).

Open questions

  • Was the Devil who bowed to Lucif in eps 0170–0171 the real one, or Vegito in disguise? Vegito calls the Devil’s claim of victory “a lie” (ep 0174 00:17:10–00:17:32); unclear.
  • What becomes of him after the “Eternal torture” (ep 0174)? Never shown.
  • Answered: his name — “Gaiba” is only a name he likes; he is a true demon Vegito (ep 0162 00:37:50–00:38:19; devil-name); why he calls Vegito “brother” and knows Earth so well — he is made of Vegito’s copies (ep 0163 00:09:40–00:24:04).
