Summary

On the icy planet, Sparda in Gohan’s body strains under Goku’s Kamehameha and tries Gohan’s voice to make Goku waver; Vegeta stops Trunks from interfering — “This is Kakarot’s battle!” (ep 0166 00:01:16–00:04:44). Sparda’s counter-beam pushes Goku back until Goku returns to Arch Angel form, with completed cyan Seraphim and a Zenkai boost, and fires a Kamehameha laced with divine smite energy that engulfs Sparda, who screams as a black shadow in the light (ep 0166 00:04:44–00:07:57). At the same moment, in the demon realm, Dai’s smite forces the Devil down; Vegito moves in to finish him, but Dai warns that the smite would send Vegito down too (ep 0166 00:08:06–00:11:27). The Devil, foaming, says that if he is smitten instead of killed they are trapped: the only way out is to become the Devil and possess a vessel in the mortal realm, and only his death makes Vegito the Devil (ep 0166 00:12:05–00:13:32). Vegito begs Dai to stop; Dai refuses — his brother is bluffing — and the Devil’s tail begins to vanish (ep 0166 00:13:55–00:15:45). Then Dai freezes: Vegito has stabbed his Cell tail into Dai’s back, thanking his old rival before draining him to a husk — “Goodbye, Dai” (ep 0166 00:15:51–00:20:02). Vegito, with one cyan and one red Seraphim eye like Rani’s, powers up into the first signs of a Nephilim Vegito: devil armour and wings on one side, archangel silver armour and white feathers on the other, a half-cyan, half-red diamond in the middle (ep 0166 00:21:18–00:24:09). Feeling good and evil “blending together”, he outclasses the Devil — an uppercut, a hammer blow, a backbreaker like Goku’s on Nappa — and incinerates him with Android 16’s Hell’s Flash into a bottomless pit: “I am Vegito… And you… Are nothing now” (ep 0166 00:24:43–00:32:38). In the other multiverse, Raditz returns by space pod to a Saiyan planet as “Prince Raditz”; his father on the throne, receiving the dog-like destroyer Cujo, is Kratos, “God of War, and former God killer” (ep 0166 00:32:45–00:36:19).

  • Whether Sparda (and Gohan) survive Goku’s Kamehameha isn’t shown here; both do — Sparda by using Dante and Virgil as shields — until Lucif snaps Gohan’s neck and both die (ep 0167 00:06:43–00:07:09, 00:11:08–00:12:27).
  • Whether the Devil is dead after the Hell’s Flash isn’t stated; only a pit of ash remains (00:32:15–00:32:38).
