Aliases & name spellings
- Gaiba (spelling from the uploader’s ep 0041–0042 descriptions; also heard “Gaiba” in ep 0029). Heard “Geiber” (ep 0040), “Guy-Bar”, “Guy but”, “Guyber”, “Geiba” (ep 0041), “Gaimanha”, “Gaiman”, “Giba”, “Glymer” (ep 0042). See names.
Overview
A young warrior of Universe 12 whose family and clan were slaughtered — by Giin, as he knows when first freed (ep 0041 00:27:12–00:27:52). Giin kept him chained and sealed in a metal box “all these years” as his would-be successor, and used a wizard’s mind-control seal to make him believe Vegito killed his clan (ep 0041 00:24:30–00:31:37). Freed from the spell by Vegito, he agreed to avenge his family alongside him, but was erased when Giin destroyed the planet (ep 0042 00:40:54–00:47:01).
Affiliations & relationships
- Giin: killer of his family; kept him as a candidate (ep 0041 00:31:06–00:31:28; ep 0042 00:43:07–00:43:16).
- His father and family: “Please, Father, give me strength!” (ep 0042 00:35:51).
- Ultra Vegito: enemy under the seal, then ally — “You got yourself a deal, mister!” (ep 0042 00:42:10–00:42:12).
Abilities / traits
- Huge strength and speed even in base (ep 0041 00:27:33–00:28:26, 00:33:56–00:34:02); grows larger the more he attacks (ep 0041 00:36:15–00:36:19).
- Energy beams from his mouth (ep 0041 00:34:57–00:35:05; ep 0042 00:24:31–00:24:47); teleports mid-beam (ep 0042 00:29:16–00:29:31).
- Beast form (“the true final form of Gaiba”): once his emerald medallion — a restraint — breaks, he becomes an Oozaru-sized beast with spiked hair and a monstrous left arm (ep 0042 00:04:38–00:06:51).
- Can transform inside the wizard’s no-transformation dimension (ep 0042 00:07:22–00:07:25).
Variants
- Hub: Gaiba.
- Gaiba (Omni Vegito’s timeline) — his clan’s protector, recruited by Omni Vegito as third of that multiverse’s five strongest (eps 0200–0201).
- Ep 0029 (another timeline, mentioned): “a prodigy known as Gaiba”, whose son “Jin” murdered — see retcons.
- Not him: the new Devil of ep 0160–0163 takes the name “Gaiba” for himself — “I always did like that name” (ep 0161 00:19:01–00:19:03); see The new Devil.
Status
- Erased with the planet by Giin’s Hakai (ep 0042 00:46:38–00:47:01; 00:49:36–00:49:52). Vegito keeps his broken pendant and vows to bring him and his family back (ep 0042 00:56:03–00:56:37). Whether Zalama’s wish to restore everything the Gods of Destruction erased (ep 0093) brought him back is never shown — he is not seen again in Vegito’s timeline.
History
- ep 0040 00:38:00: (mentioned, “Geiber”) Giin orders him awakened.
- ep 0041 00:25:21–00:42:38: released from the box; attacks Giin; sealed; fights Vegito.
- ep 0042 00:02:50–00:35:51: transforms into a giant beast; beaten by Ultra Dragon Fist.
- ep 0042 00:38:37–00:42:43: freed from the seal by Spirit Fission; shrinks back to a child; allies with Vegito.
- ep 0042 00:44:23–00:47:01: erased with the planet.
Open questions
- Did Vegito bring him back, as he vowed? Zalama’s wish restored what the Gods of Destruction erased (ep 0093), which would include him, but he never reappears. See bring-back-beerus.
