Aliases & name spellings

  • Majin Buu, Buu. Transcription variants: “Margin Boo”, “Margin Boom”, “Margin Buu”, “Boo”, “boot” (ep 0043). See names.
  • “Ultra Buu”, “the new Ultra Buu” (narration, ep 0046 00:12:06, 00:17:28); heard “Ma Jin Boo” (ep 0046).

Overview

The magical monster of the source series. In the Buu-saga timeline a new variant awakens when Vegito feeds Babidi his own god-level energy: pink but far skinnier, with two horns and a chiselled jaw (ep 0043 00:36:50–00:37:24). The deal itself is cut away (ep 0043 00:35:29–00:35:34), but the next episode says plainly that Buu was revived “with just the energy of one Earthling”, and Vegito says Buu inherited his power (ep 0044 00:04:27, 00:40:01). Beaten by Vegito, he engulfed him and was taken over from inside: since ep 0046 he is part of Vegito, a stoic voice in his mind whose regeneration, goo and shapeshifting Vegito uses (ep 0046 00:08:16–00:19:42; ep 0058 00:08:54–00:09:29; ep 0094 00:04:44–00:09:38; ep 0183 00:36:42–00:37:20).

Affiliations & relationships

Abilities / traits

  • Calm and articulate; wants solitude: “Violence is not the answer” (ep 0044 00:06:14–00:06:30).
  • Dodges without thinking — “autonomous ultra-instinct”, gained from Vegito’s god ki (Vegito, ep 0044 00:12:48–00:13:05).
  • Regenerates from pink gas and ash “without a scratch” (ep 0044 00:17:38–00:18:24); steam vents from his head when angry (ep 0044 00:19:22).
  • Stretching limbs; a ball of pink energy “enough to destroy a small universe” (ep 0044 00:21:26, 00:26:13); a pink aura when fully powered (ep 0044 00:34:56–00:35:11).
  • Vegito: he inherited “not only my power, but my tenacity too” (ep 0044 00:40:01).
  • His ki felt “divine, ancient, like it had been around even before my time” (Guts, ep 0046 00:09:13).

Variants

Status

  • Part of Vegito: he engulfed Vegito, but Vegito took him over from inside — “now Buu is a part of me” (ep 0046 00:08:16–00:19:42).
  • Earlier, in order: awake (ep 0043 00:36:50); deformed and “disfigured” by Vegito’s Big Bang Attack (ep 0044 00:43:31–00:43:51).

History

  • ep 0043 00:31:00–00:31:02: still sealed in the large ball in Babidi’s ship.
  • ep 0043 00:36:37–00:37:28: bursts out of the exploding ship.
  • ep 0044: thanks Vegito and refuses to fight; dodges, is sliced and blasted, regenerates; beats Vegito down and spares the planet “because now I’m hungry”; loses to Vegito’s final form and Big Bang Attack.
  • ep 0045 00:02:04–00:02:14: drained and deformed, blown far away by the swordsman’s first swing.
  • ep 0046: rises as goo behind Guts, absorbs Vegito’s body; reforms in Vegito’s gi; tells Guts he seeks “peace, quiet, and food”; is taken over from inside by Vegito.
  • ep 0058 00:08:54–00:09:29: inside Vegito, “stoic”, wishes Jiren would erase them all so he’d have peace; his body and appearance were “Altered because of what Vegito had been doing with the time rings” (Vegeta, 00:12:03–00:12:15).
  • ep 0060 00:17:38–00:22:15: inside Vegito, fed up with the noise, wraps Vegito in his arm so Vegeta’s Final Flash lands: “Are we not all a part of you Vegito?”
  • ep 0093–0094: (inside Vegito) Buu’s power heals Vegito’s chest and forms a decoy heart that bursts to engulf Dai; Dai’s holy light erases the goo, and a divine beam erases Buu matter beyond regrowth (ep 0093 00:10:03; ep 0094 00:04:44–00:09:38, 00:18:11–00:18:43). Dai: “Buu! I will look into that name” (ep 0094 00:20:16).
  • ep 0183 00:36:42–00:37:20: (as Vegito’s power) Vegito’s clones turn back into pink goo and Vegito erupts “into a volcano of pink material”, emerging far stronger.
