Summary

With Frieza gone, King Vegeta rejoices and asks who the stranger is; Vegito answers that he is a Saiyan — the one the King sent off to an innocent planet — and that the King owes him a favour (ep 0031 00:01:33–00:02:51). When the King offers him any planet and its women, Vegito scolds him as no better than Frieza or the gods and commands the Saiyans to stop conquering planets, cut off their tails, defend the weak and “break the cycle” (ep 0031 00:03:34–00:05:40). The King refuses, citing Saiyan tradition and Planet Plant; Vegito retorts that the Saiyans destroyed their own Planet Sadala as Oozaru, then, palm to his face, fills his mind with Super Saiyan 1, 2, 3, God and Blue (ep 0031 00:05:49–00:08:56). Leaving, he warns that Beerus will be back in about 40 years looking for a Super Saiyan God (ep 0031 00:09:28–00:09:51). He stops baby Kakarot’s departing space pod by hand and brings it back to Bardock and Gine, telling them Frieza is dead, the planet safe and Kakarot needn’t be sent away — “Goodbye, mother, father” (ep 0031 00:10:01–00:14:10). Through a time portal he returns to the GT timeline, where he left Goku and Vegeta facing Beerus: Earth is intact, but Kami’s lookout is battered and he can sense neither Goku, Vegeta, Dende nor Popo, so he assumes Beerus killed them (ep 0031 00:14:12–00:16:34). On Beerus’s planet Whis recognises him and summons the Pyramid of Power, from which steps Ultra Gogeta — wrapped in black lightning and dressed as a God of Destruction after 40 years’ training, no longer ageing (ep 0031 00:17:07–00:22:12). Beerus, alive, appears behind him as Gogeta’s teacher, wreathed in the same black lightning (ep 0031 00:23:01–00:24:11). Vegito lunges at Beerus; Gogeta blocks him, hears his account of Beerus ordering Planet Vegeta’s destruction to make a destroyer, and laughs it off — Beerus has already introduced him to the real Monaka, exposing Vegito’s old lie (ep 0031 00:24:29–00:28:31). Caught out, Vegito can’t explain; Gogeta powers up to settle it with fists, and Vegito, smiling, goes ultra too (ep 0031 00:28:39–00:30:37).

Uncertainties

  • That the second stop is the GT timeline is (inferred): Vegito calls it “the universe I left Goku and Vegeta to battle Beerus in” (00:14:58), Whis remembers him from Gogeta’s side on Earth (00:18:21), and Gogeta recalls the Monaka lie (00:27:57).
  • Why Vegito senses no Goku or Vegeta: probably because they now exist as Gogeta (inferred); why Dende and Popo are missing and the lookout damaged isn’t said.
  • How a Fusion Dance Gogeta stays fused for 40 years isn’t explained; he says he “can’t age anymore” as a God of Destruction (00:21:51).
  • “the dark, ominous electricity we once thought was synonymous with only Gogeta” (00:19:48) is corrected to “only Vegito” [?] — the black lightning was “unique to Ultra Vegito” (ep 0024 00:07:45).
