Summary

In his palace, Belmod lounges among his servants and praises Marcarita: Jiren has trained 20 years in only 10 days inside the angels’ Pyramid of Power, where two years pass for every day outside, making him a mortal stronger than gods and angels alike; Toppo lasted only two days (ep 0022 00:01:21–00:03:03). Marcarita admits it took offering Jiren what he really wanted (ep 0022 00:03:21–00:03:42). In a flashback a few weeks earlier, Jiren — after ten years of meditating on his fight with Goku — has perfected his own Ultra Instinct with no visible aura (ep 0022 00:03:49–00:04:43). Marcarita shows him, mind to mind, a slanted version of events: Goku and Vegeta fusing (shown as Gogeta, in the wrong outfits) and then the murders of Sidra, Rumsshi, Liquiir and Heles, with no sign of the imprisonment or the destruction of their loved ones (ep 0022 00:09:21–00:11:32). Shaken, Jiren swears as a Pride Trooper to protect Belmod, a former Pride Trooper himself, and to kill “Son Goku” with his own hand (ep 0022 00:11:44–00:13:51). Marcarita warns that the fusion has angelic techniques and, through Vegeta, destruction power, and that the god-killer ignores mortals — so if Jiren wants a real fight he must become Universe 11’s next God of Destruction, training with the candidate Toppo (ep 0022 00:14:38–00:19:42). In the present, Vegito asks the staff for the next God of Destruction and finds Toppo instead, standing amid ruined buildings (ep 0022 00:20:12–00:21:25). Toppo says he’s no god yet — the real one will end Vegito’s life (ep 0022 00:22:17–00:22:57). An energy far beyond Beerus’s arrives, and a hooded figure ruptures Vegito’s organs with a punch and sends him crashing through buildings with a left hook: Jiren the Grey (ep 0022 00:23:49–00:26:18). Vegito rises to one knee, the planet shaking with his rage (ep 0022 00:27:01–00:27:41).

Key events

  • 00:00:21 Recap count: six gods, six angels, “and one powerful mortal to surpass them all”.
  • 00:01:21–00:01:41 Belmod’s palace, Universe 11; his female servants; Marcarita.
  • 00:01:48 Belmod calls Vegito “that demon”.
  • 00:01:58–00:02:14 Jiren trained 20 years in 10 days; now stronger than the angels too.
  • 00:02:32–00:03:03 Marcarita: every angel can use the Pyramid of Power (two years inside per day outside); Toppo lasted two days, Jiren all ten — a first.
  • 00:03:36 “In a funny way, we need to thank Son Goku for this.”
  • 00:04:22–00:04:43 Jiren has self-perfected Ultra Instinct, with no visible aura, “much like the angels”.
  • 00:05:52 Marcarita: he mastered “a technique made for the angels” without her training.
  • 00:07:11–00:08:15 Jiren remembers Goku and Vegeta and longs to fight them again.
  • 00:08:46–00:08:58 Marcarita offers to show him what became of them over the ten years.
  • 00:10:51–00:11:32 The vision: Gogeta, wrong outfits, then the deaths of Sidra, Rumsshi, Liquiir and Heles — “a truly twisted take”.
  • 00:12:32–00:13:03 Jiren: the angel couldn’t have faked it; was he not worthy of that power?
  • 00:13:26–00:13:51 As a Pride Trooper he will protect Belmod (a former Pride Trooper) and kill Son Goku himself.
  • 00:15:10–00:15:19 Marcarita: Vegeta has “attained destruction powers of his own” over the years.
  • 00:16:03–00:16:11 Jiren refuses to bring Toppo and the Pride Troopers “like lambs to slaughter”.
  • 00:17:15–00:17:26 Toppo, “the God of Destruction Candidate”, is offered as training partner.
  • 00:18:10–00:18:23 Marcarita: Jiren must become the next God of Destruction of Universe 11.
  • 00:18:54–00:19:42 Her reasoning: the god-killer only hunts gods and would hold back against a mortal; only destruction can fight destruction.
  • 00:20:25 Vegito: “Take me to the next god of destruction!”
  • 00:20:36–00:21:25 An Earth-like planet with destroyed buildings; Toppo waiting, briefed by Belmod.
  • 00:22:17–00:22:57 Toppo: Vegito is a murderer of gods; “I’m no god of destruction yet. The real one” will kill him.
  • 00:23:20–00:23:39 Vegito: Vegeta alone could beat Toppo; he is neither Goku nor Vegeta but “a combination of their greatest dreams”.
  • 00:24:15–00:24:31 Vegito, panicking: this power is “far beyond even Beerus”.
  • 00:24:31–00:25:02 A masked figure’s punch to the solar plexus ruptures his organs; he coughs blood.
  • 00:25:27–00:25:58 A left hook sends him through several buildings.
  • 00:26:10–00:26:18 The hood comes off: Jiren the Grey.
  • 00:26:35–00:26:53 Toppo: “20 years of consistent training”; Marcarita’s and Belmod’s plan worked.
  • 00:27:18–00:27:41 Vegito, enraged, on one knee; Jiren may be his single biggest obstacle.

Threads

Uncertainties

  • Jiren is not yet Universe 11’s God of Destruction here: the episode opens at the palace of Belmod, “the god of destruction of Universe 11” (ep 0022 00:01:21), who is grooming Jiren as the next one (00:17:15–00:18:23); Jiren claims the title in ep 0024 00:34:00. Toppo says only that he himself isn’t one yet and “the real one” will end Vegito’s life (00:22:57); the staff, told to find “the next god of destruction”, led to Toppo and Jiren (00:20:25–00:21:25); the title calls Jiren “The Next God Of Universe 11” (unclear).
  • How many days passed between the flashback (“a few weeks ago”, 00:03:49) and the present isn’t clear; Belmod speaks of “these last few days” and “weeks” in one sentence (00:01:48).
  • The vision shows the deaths of Sidra, Rumsshi, Liquiir and Heles; Quitela’s death (ep 0021) isn’t in it — perhaps it happened after (inferred). The narration’s “seeing Six die” (00:11:58) doesn’t match the four names.
  • 00:16:11 and 00:16:34 read as “Vegito” [?] where the transcript says “Vegeta”.
  • Where the planet is (Universe 11?) isn’t said.
