Aliases & name spellings
- King of Sadala.
- “King Sadala” (ep 0034 00:33:49; ep 0035 00:05:01); “the Saiyan King of Sadala” (ep 0035 00:00:09); “Dad”, “old man”, “old bag of bones” (Caulifla, ep 0035 00:06:11–00:07:11).
Overview
The Saiyan king of Sadala in Universe 6, Caulifla’s father, and the “most talented” Saiyan Champa sent for (ep 0008 00:23:33–00:23:52; ep 0035 00:06:09–00:07:11). Bored and lazy, he sits on a throne of bone and skull and never leaves his castle (ep 0008 00:23:56–00:24:14; ep 0034 00:29:22–00:32:24). Champa chose him for his S cells as the next God of Destruction (ep 0035 00:09:35–00:09:47; ep 0039 00:10:43–00:12:21); out of the Pyramid of Power he took Kefla’s and Cabba’s energy and reached a tailed, white-furred form Vegito called Super Saiyan 5, but was beaten almost to death (ep 0038 00:37:35–00:39:20; ep 0039). As of his last appearance he has recovered and rules again: crushed back to base by a demon in his capital and saved by Vegeta, he sends Sadala’s survivors away in space pods, mourning Caulifla while his son is about to be born (ep 0131 00:12:51–00:30:32; ep 0133 00:02:04–00:02:45, 00:11:31–00:12:16).
Affiliations & relationships
- Champa: summons him (ep 0008 00:23:52); chose him for his S cells (ep 0039 00:10:43–00:12:21).
- His brother: unnamed; “just as impatient”, he met “his untimely fate” at a fellow Saiyan’s hands (ep 0039 00:17:14, 00:26:13–00:26:15).
- Vegeta: saves him from the demon and sends him to save his people (ep 0131 00:12:51–00:30:32).
- Caulifla: his daughter (ep 0035 00:06:45); her mother called him “the laziest man she’d ever met” (ep 0035 00:09:03).
- Cabba: embarrassed by the king’s manners — “less manners than Caulifla” (ep 0034 00:30:36–00:30:40).
- Kale, Caulifla and Cabba: kept the capital’s losses down (ep 0133 00:11:31–00:12:16).
Abilities / traits
- Can’t turn Super Saiyan, per Caulifla (ep 0035 00:08:07); has “foretold potential” (Champa, ep 0035 00:08:42).
- S cells: 99% of a Saiyan’s maximum — Champa’s reason for choosing him (ep 0039 00:10:43–00:12:21).
- Energy transfer: takes all of Kefla’s and Cabba’s energy (ep 0039 00:08:34–00:15:30).
- “True ultimate form” (Super Saiyan 5, per Vegito): a tail, white hair, silver-white fur, crimson eyes; “100% S cells” (ep 0039 00:20:23–00:25:38). It still can’t hurt Vegito (00:28:20–00:28:24).
Variants
- No other version appears; in god-killer Vegeta’s timeline he is only a yardstick for Vegeta’s power (ep 0204 00:20:45).
Status
- Alive, back to base after his defeat by the demon, sending his people off-world; his son is about to be born (ep 0131 00:25:39–00:27:28; ep 0133 00:11:31–00:12:16).
- Earlier, in order: on his throne (ep 0008 00:23:56); training in the Pyramid of Power on Champa’s planet (ep 0035 00:13:23–00:13:29); near death and unconscious, carried towards Sadala by Kefla and Cabba (ep 0039 00:32:13–00:32:54; ep 0040 00:03:09–00:07:21).
History
- ep 0008 00:23:56: Shown on his throne.
- ep 0034 00:29:22–00:33:54: Mocks Champa (“a fat stray cat in my throne room”); dares him to erase the planet; agrees to fight once told of a “Saiyan king”.
- ep 0035 00:05:01–00:13:29: Arrives on Champa’s planet; meets his daughter Caulifla; enters the Pyramid of Power.
- ep 0038 00:37:35–00:39:20: emerges from the pyramid: “So… This is the so-called Saiyan King? How disappointing.”
- ep 0039: “Begin the ritual!”; takes the young Saiyans’ energy; transforms; his punch does nothing; crushed by a Toppo apparition and blasted. His last words: “God… Killer… Father… King… Saiyan…” (00:32:46–00:32:54).
- ep 0039 00:17:14: mentions his brother (“Just as impatient as my brother once was”); later he says the brother, too, met his fate at a fellow Saiyan’s hands (00:26:13–00:26:15).
- ep 0131 00:12:51–00:30:32: as a Super Saiyan 5, leads his guards against a pink Buu-like demon in the ruined capital; his strongest blast fails and the demon crushes him back to base; mourning “The end of my lineage… Just before my son[‘s] birth”, he is saved by Vegeta, who sends him to save his people.
- ep 0133 00:02:04–00:02:45: praises the dead Caulifla’s loyalty.
- ep 0133 00:11:31–00:12:16: agrees to send Sadala’s surviving soldiers in space pods to other planets; casualties in the capital were limited thanks to Cabba, Kale and Caulifla; realises the power he saw earlier was only a clone’s (00:13:17–00:13:28).
- ep 0204 00:20:45: god-killer Vegeta’s timeline (mentioned) — Vados: Vegeta’s power level went “far beyond the King of Sadala”.
Open questions
- Who was his brother, and which Saiyan killed him (ep 0039 00:17:14, 00:26:15)? Never named.
- Is his child born, and does he ever reach Super Saiyan 5 again? Not shown after ep 0133. See s-cells.
- Answered: Champa wanted him as his successor, for his S cells (ep 0039 00:10:43–00:12:21; see u6-saiyans); he recovers from his beating (ep 0131 00:12:51).
