Aliases & name spellings

• Cell; “Baby Cell” (narration, ep 0020 00:17:42); “Imperfect Cell” (ep 0020 00:31:58); “my dear Cell”, “my greatest creation” (Gero, ep 0018 00:16:06; ep 0020 00:16:59); “your precious baby” (Vegito, ep 0020 00:11:58). “Ultra Cell” is used in the story’s narration from ep 0023 00:00:00 (recap) and ep 0025 00:23:44; “Ultra Instinct Imperfect Cell” (ep 0023 00:09:41); “Perfect Cell” (ep 0025 00:10:24); “father” is what he calls Gero (ep 0025 00:14:55).

Overview

Dr. Gero’s bio-android in the Android-saga timeline. While building Vegito’s arm, Gero secretly fed Vegito’s power, techniques and DNA into the growing Baby Cell, which gained Ultra Instinct — “a new terror in this timeline… created by Vegito once again” (ep 0020 00:16:47–00:18:05). Weeks after Vegito left, the imperfect Cell erased Piccolo (fused with Kami) and the Dragon Balls with a Hakai (confirmed ep 0023 00:11:05), then killed and absorbed Vegeta, Future Trunks and Gohan, leaving only a bedridden Goku (ep 0020 00:30:37–00:34:56). Whis’s staff saw him as “a being of multiversal danger” with Ultra Instinct and Hakai (ep 0023 00:10:31–00:11:21). He became Perfect Cell by absorbing two near-identical androids Gero built to replace 17 and 18, and absorbed the people of a whole city (ep 0025 00:10:24, 00:12:16–00:13:38). After God of Destruction Goku erased Gero, he fought Goku in Super Saiyan 2 and mastered Ultra Instinct, copying the Z fighters’ techniques, and was erased by Goku’s Kamehameha-kai (ep 0025 00:20:45–00:31:16; ep 0027 00:28:42–00:29:04).

Affiliations & relationships

• Dr. Gero: his creator, who sees him as his last hope for revenge (ep 0020 00:12:44–00:12:55).
• Ultra Vegito: the unknowing source of his new power; Vegito thinks Cell can never become perfect without 17 and 18 and leaves him to Goku (ep 0020 00:26:17–00:27:17).
• Victims: an old man (ep 0020 00:30:52–00:31:16); Piccolo (ep 0020 00:32:28); Vegeta, Future Trunks, Gohan (ep 0020 00:34:28).

Abilities / traits

• Ultra Instinct, from Vegito’s DNA (ep 0020 00:17:55); “a classic Ultra Instinct shine” in his eyes (ep 0020 00:32:06).
• A God of Destruction technique — Hakai (ep 0020 00:32:14–00:32:39; confirmed by Whis’s staff, ep 0023 00:11:05).
• Stabs a victim and drains their life force, leaving a husk (ep 0020 00:31:08–00:31:16); absorbs fighters to gain power (ep 0020 00:34:28–00:34:38).
• Gero thought imperfect Cell about equal to 16 in strength before the DNA (ep 0020 00:27:46).
• Perfect form from two replacement androids (ep 0025 00:13:00–00:13:38); his aura beyond Super Saiyan 2 with blue lightning, credited to absorbing Vegeta, Trunks and Gohan (ep 0025 00:20:45–00:21:00).
• Mastered Ultra Instinct (ep 0025 00:30:56–00:31:02); Hakai — he uses it to cancel his own erasure (ep 0027 00:27:23–00:27:40).
• Copies the Z fighters’ moves: Wolf Fang Fist, Special Beam Cannon (a tenth of Piccolo’s charge time), Tri-Beam, Frieza’s death beam, Kamehameha (ep 0027 00:06:04–00:14:21, 00:21:50).
• Super hearing and regeneration from Piccolo’s cells (ep 0027 00:23:35, 00:27:14–00:27:19); “data” on his opponents (ep 0025 00:12:51; ep 0027 00:03:03).
• Cannot copy Ultra Ego: his cells gave him Ultra Instinct but nothing for it (ep 0027 00:15:35–00:15:47).

Open questions

• Answered: when Goku woke he became a God of Destruction and erased Cell, who had become perfect through replacement androids (ep 0025; ep 0027). See cell.
• How did he know Yamcha’s Wolf Fang Fist (ep 0027 00:06:04)?
