Aliases & name spellings

• Tien, Tien Shinhan (ep 0019 00:01:26; ep 0020 00:04:42); “the Triclops” (narration, ep 0027 00:11:18).

Overview

The Tien of the Android-saga timeline, one of the Z fighters who face Ultra Vegito at Dr. Gero’s lab (ep 0019 00:01:26). Frozen by Future Trunks’s warning that they all died in this battle, he later asks what the problem is, now that they are all alive (ep 0019 00:09:20–00:09:43; ep 0020 00:04:42–00:05:09). The Z fighters then leave Vegito alone with Gero (ep 0020 00:09:34). Later in that timeline the narration counts him among “the slain Z-Fighters” whose techniques Cell uses (ep 0027 00:10:47–00:11:04).

As of his last appearance (ep 0020): alive; later spoken of as slain (ep 0027 00:10:47–00:11:04), though his death isn’t shown.

Affiliations & relationships

• Krillin (Android-saga timeline): agrees with him (ep 0020 00:05:08).
• Future Trunks: reminds him that the warning worked — “we’re alive, including Goku”; Trunks still senses something wrong, since Vegito “didn’t exist in my timeline, Tien” (ep 0020 00:04:48–00:05:24).
• Goku (Android-saga timeline): calls Tien his good friend, who taught him the multi-form technique (ep 0027 00:25:57–00:26:03).
• Cell (Android-saga timeline): uses Tien’s Tri-Beam against Goku (ep 0027 00:11:04–00:11:20).

Abilities / traits

• Tri-Beam and multi-form technique — known here only through others: Cell fires the Tri-Beam, Goku uses the multi-form (ep 0027 00:11:04; ep 0027 00:26:03–00:26:09).

Variants

• Hub: Tien.
• Tien (main) — Ultra Vegito’s own timeline’s Tien, who dies with Earth, is revived and is killed by Lucif’s guard.
• Tien (god-killer Goku’s timeline) — erased by Beerus.
• Tien (Gogito’s multiverse) — in Gogito’s past.

Status

• Alive as of ep 0020 00:09:34; later counted among “the slain Z-Fighters” (narration, ep 0027 00:10:47–00:11:03), though his death isn’t shown.

History

• ep 0019 00:01:26: with Krillin, Piccolo, Vegeta and Future Trunks as Vegito walks toward them.
• ep 0019 00:09:27–00:09:43: frozen by Trunks’s warning.
• ep 0020 00:04:42–00:05:09: “We should be celebrating.”
• ep 0027 00:10:42–00:11:22: (mentioned) Cell uses his Tri-Beam on Goku.
• ep 0027 00:25:57–00:26:12: (mentioned) Goku says Tien taught him the multi-form technique.

Open questions

• How and when did he die? The narration calls him slain (ep 0027 00:11:00), but no death is shown.
