Summary

Ranin introduces himself to Goten as Vegito’s son, who as a baby used Trunks’s body to help Vegito fight Lucif and was then betrayed (ep 0228 00:01:39–00:02:23). Vegito, watching, worries: Ranin’s mother held the Devil Gene and he is now grown (ep 0228 00:02:46–00:03:12). Trunks, his eyes turning red, attacks with a Final Flash; Ranin says the red eyes show Trunks still keeps a piece of his own timeline’s Lucif inside (ep 0228 00:03:37–00:06:19). Ranin’s robes burn away to reveal a Saiyan-like body — white and brown hair, a tail with a devilish exoskeleton — so like Vegito that Vegito is sure he is his son; he grew up fast in the demon realm, where time moves differently (ep 0228 00:07:36–00:11:00). Ranin stops Trunks’s punch with one finger and beats him savagely with his tail and feet, re-enacting what “our own father did to us”, then kicks him into the sky (ep 0228 00:11:38–00:19:22). Inside his mind, Trunks meets his timeline’s Lucif, whom he kept sealed rather than unleash, and uses him to reach devil power (ep 0228 00:20:24–00:24:02). Goten turns into Dark Goten — black aura, white eyes, grey skin — then a Super Saiyan 3-like version with black tribal markings (ep 0228 00:25:54–00:33:36). Ranin lets Goten grab him and fires a blast from a mouth on his chest, through Goten’s chest (ep 0228 00:35:01–00:36:09). As Ranin draws a godslayer-style blade to finish Goten, Trunks returns in a “semi perfect devil” form via a “Devil Trigger” and absorbs Goten into his right arm (ep 0228 00:36:16–00:38:18).

Uncertainties

  • The mouth Ranin fires from is heard “pocket”; read as “pec” (chest) (likely).
  • “Devil tree” (00:37:42) is read as “Devil Trigger” (likely).
  • Lucif’s lines inside Trunks (00:22:05–00:22:30) are partly garbled.
  • Whether Goten is dead or only absorbed isn’t said.
